Synthetic resin is diffusion-tight. It is like sealing the walls with plastic sheets. A mineral paint allows the wall to regulate moisture. That means when there is too much water in the air, the walls absorb it; when the air becomes drier again, the walls release the moisture back. This ensures a more pleasant indoor climate. In addition, there are positive properties such as being ecological, better tolerated by allergy sufferers, mold-resistant, and offering more natural colors. If you choose slightly more expensive paints, they are also washable when children have drawn on them or spilled cherry juice on them. I can personally confirm that the latter works.

Would you like to name a source?

And do you still use painter's fleece underneath? If yes, which one, so as not to lose this breathable effect? Thank you

We left the "raw" lime plaster almost everywhere. Where paint was applied - partially - we used Sto. I wouldn't let Alpina's rubbish into the house anymore! And by the way: just because the paints from the specialist store are more efficient, doesn't mean they are more expensive (and it also saves time because you only have to paint once).

The idea of painting once is just a myth, no matter how expensive the paint is. But silicate in new construction should actually be standard nowadays.

Our painter also says that painting once is a myth. Painting twice simply increases the impact resistance, and show me a room where you don’t eventually bump into the wall. However, he mentioned a brand from Alpina that he considers quite okay. I’ll ask again, because I liked a tint from Alpina best, and now I am torn. I would really like the color, but a paint based on synthetic resin is out of the question for my eco house.
