God knows. That's why I'm asking.
With a blind, you can probably make the room almost 100% dark. Probably not with shutters and not as dark with venetian blinds as with blinds? It depends on the requirements (shift workers who need a 100% dark room, for example).

My husband wired and programmed all the roller shutters in the house. The problem is also, if he ever gets sick or dies before me (which thankfully is not acute right now), I'll be in a really bad spot if the technology fails. Then it stays dark.

Well, that’s unfortunate!
But that’s what I meant. All the shutters are wired accordingly and connected via programming.
Standard electric roller shutters would usually have a switch per room or something like that. So you would have to press more than one button.

Whether you press a button or operate the roller shutter manually makes no big difference. Except for the appearance

Central control is great - on the ground floor.
Upstairs we hardly use it.

I'll just check out here.

Is it really your serious opinion that the speed of raising or lowering is too slow? A shading is supposed to keep the heat outside, we are not on the highway....

King Song has hit the nail on the head, life is made easier and more comfortable. I would never want to replace my venetian blinds again, not even with roller blinds. I see exactly in residential areas how people with their roller blinds on the south side then have to sit almost in the dark during the day to avoid being destroyed by the heat....great...They have achieved their goal

And I also always thought it had to be 100% dark when you want to sleep, but it doesn't, if you are tired you sleep anyway, besides, humans get used to everything...

But everyone likes it their own way. Visually, this webbing tape is for me in the 21st century an absolute fail, but everyone likes it differently. For larger windows, as far as I know, such things must no longer be installed anyway because of the pull weight.
