This week the bricks are going on. The electrical rough installation is already very advanced. The plumber will start over the weekend..... it's happening!

Good morning everyone,

Yesterday we finished laying the insulation in the basement. Today the two upper floors will be done, and perhaps we will manage to lay the first heating loops in the basement as well.

Ps: a tip for everyone who wants to lay the insulation themselves (I don’t have many good ideas but this one was actually not so bad) buy a few cans of marking paint at the hardware store and spray the water and electrical lines accordingly. Then press the Styrofoam onto the line. This way you get the exact outline of the line and thus a clean cutting template

The "professional" version looks like this: you lay one layer of insulation that lies between the pipes and is about as thick as the highest pipe. You fill the gaps with loose fill. Then you quickly lay the second layer on top. Done. Time-consuming, meticulous cutouts are eliminated.

That's how we did it too, but you still have to lay the insulation neatly up to the pipes; that’s where this technique was worth its weight in gold. Otherwise, I agree with you.

The craftsman simply cuts it roughly and applies a screed on top. But the DIYer is much more meticulous about such things.

If screed is applied at all by the professional! We also did it ourselves, meticulously to no end, a time-consuming task beyond belief for the pipes but done properly.
