Thank you for your positive feedback :) The doors throughout the house are 2.50 meters. While we have a room height of 2.75 meters downstairs, we were only allowed to realize 2.65 meters upstairs due to the limited ridge height. Baseboards would not have looked good with the flush doors. A shadow gap was considered, but it would have created an unimaginable effort. Therefore, the floor layers and plasterers had to work seam to seam so that there is a clean transition from wall to floor without baseboards. This did not exactly elicit enthusiasm from both trades, but it works. The floor is linoleum (Wikipedia: "The main advantage of linoleum is its resistance to mechanical and chemical stress. ... Linoleum is antistatic, slightly fungicidal and bacteriostatic (i.e., it inhibits bacterial growth)."). We laid it in the hope that it could at least withstand our children for a while..., as it has proven itself in public areas. Good luck with your project, sounds good with the room height and the flush doors.

At the end of the year, despite a one-week cold snap, I was still able to finish the most important things outside. Luckily, the weather was on my side, and we had clear above-freezing temperatures before New Year's Eve.

The entrance area with the platform was paved, and I was also able to finish the terrace. Now only the parking area for the cars is missing, but that will be done quickly. And without the chaos in front of the house, it really looks like a livable home :)

Is there any information on why the awning was a mistaken purchase or could you briefly explain it to me?

As shading, we would like to avoid these "steel cages with glass roofs" and wish for a large and high-quality awning. However, we wonder whether it provides enough protection in midsummer on the large terrace facing south or if we are overestimating it...

It was too hot for me under the awning on the south terrace. The main reason, however, was that I also wanted Ben Regenschutz to be able to simply leave things outside.

Thanks for your answer. I'm also not someone who has to sit/lie in the direct summer sun and actually prefers it to be properly shaded.
Then an awning is probably not for us either, right?
What have you decided on now that offers better heat protection and still looks nice?

A wooden roof structure with sealing and greening was installed. We definitely did not want glass...
