we have such black metal frame lamps above the dining table, so that we do not cover the bulbs at all and it does not glare at all. Maybe your lamps are just too bright? At 60-70cm above the table, you cannot see who is standing on the other side of the table while sitting, and I think you will still see the bulbs, the lampshade is huge and open. When setting the table or wiping it, you will also still bump your head against it.

That is exactly what I wanted to get at. If the lamp hangs so high that I can look underneath it, then with such a large shade I can also look inside and will be blinded by the bulbs.

With a luminaire with a long body (and a wider opening at the bottom) there is no glare, even if it hangs quite high with us. It is also available with a long suspension, 5 or 6 m. It is open at the top, which beautifully showcases the cable. We use a 21 W LED lamp, dimmable. Diffuser can be retrofitted.
