Personally, it would also bother me if I couldn’t reach my roast from all sides because there’s a wall there; but it’s definitely doable. However, I don’t find it optimal either.

I can't understand that at all, it has never bothered me. I turn the vegetables without pushing them out, and if I do, I put the entire tray on the countertop, do everything, and slide it back in. The resting surface is right next to it. I don't find an oven in the middle of the room optimal if you don't install it directly under the stove... but then you would have to bend down... so that's not optimal either. Besides, doesn't almost everything splash in the kitchen anyway? That's really a minor evil, the dishwasher is much worse.
