Your question sounded pretty shocked with the punctuation, and I just respond to such things with humor. Apart from the thick wooden floor, the previous answers from the forum members have actually already named the exact reasons. But what bothers me most is the inertia of underfloor heating. When I’m cold because I got hit with too many snowballs during the battle, I just want to press my hands and my butt against the radiator, put my wet shoes underneath, and put the wet stuff on top.
I can understand that, my previous house was built like that back in 1990. Solid wood planks and cork underneath, plus tall radiators colored by the car painter, plus a fireplace stove. I could still live with that feeling of living today, simply great, never cold on the floor. Now, in the new building, I have underfloor heating, which is nice, but I would never consider one or the other to be the right way. Back then, underfloor heating was demonized due to actual problems some people had with their veins... no idea. Leaning against a warm radiator always had something nice as well. I like your house, even if mine looks different today. It always has to fit its OWN time and OWN life philosophy. You won’t have any problems with it. Many people always told me what to do or not do, but mostly I prevailed and did it the way I wanted (mostly simplified). Looking back today, I am glad about that because I mostly didn’t like other people’s houses. Therefore... there is only YOUR feeling whether you drive a Mercedes, Audi, or bicycle. Living is private and absolutely individual, and that is often forgotten.
