We have the sink and cooktop on the island (depth 1.20m) in the wall row. The sink is arranged on one side of the island, creating a nice large work surface next to it. At the front side of the island, we have a double socket because power is needed there if anywhere. We explicitly did not want it on the work surface. It has proven successful for us.

True. I have this experience. I walk over with the pot to the hand blender :D

Phone definitely somewhere else!

They are specially protected, Alessandro

Always on the end panel! No drilling into fronts! No holes in the countertop! All sins :D

There are, as known from office desk accessories, retractable power outlet towers. Might be something for a dead corner. Not suitable for the island...

If the socket is not needed and the lid is closed, you can also put something on top. Sure, a champagne or wine glass will tip over on the edge. The socket is not in the middle of the workspace. It does not get in the way when rolling out dough, at least I have more than enough space next to it. Cleaning effort is no more than with side models. It can withstand minor spills. No matter where the socket setup is, it should be flat. It would be annoying if storage space was lost because of a 5 mm socket.

There are also these counter-like attachments/build-ups. Then you still have a vertical surface where the outlets can go on the island. But I suspect that is from the 90s and nobody does that anymore?
