Grilled chicken is not my style at all, your house, but it is so coherent and fitting that I have rarely seen it. Beautiful! You really wait for Michl and Madita, who dash around the corner
And the property is a dream! *sigh*
I wouldn't do much with the garden either. A vegetable garden enclosed with a picket fence is a good idea, maybe I would treat myself to a bit more privacy with a natural hedge, but also use native shrubs for that. How is it with the wind? The property is quite exposed after all. Doesn't it whistle sometimes? I would include that in the consideration regarding a hedge and also design it as a windbreaker. And such a hedge doesn't have to go over the entire length of the property but can represent planting for a few meters.
A flower meadow takes time and a high affinity for so-called weeds. I have seen instructions by now that simply say: do nothing, wait. It takes at least 5 years for a flower meadow to develop from wasteland or a maintained lawn by itself. The important thing is to mow only once or twice a year at most (when - you can find out on the internet) and also to accept what we call weeds. I don't know if I could do that, but I believe it works. The most beautiful flower meadows I have ever seen were patches of earth untouched for years that probably developed in the same way.
