I have been thinking about this since that post back then, but I can't figure it out: WHAT EXACTLY IS THE PURPOSE of a dishwasher that opens by itself!?? Sure, Eco dries faster then because of the low temperatures. But it does that for us even with the door closed.

The quick drying and escape of the steam is the only reason. If installed incorrectly, the door becomes a deadly weapon. At my brother's place, the thing bangs so hard against the floor that they have to put a cushion underneath.

Normally, it only opens a small gap, so it would never reach the floor. At least that's the case with our dishwasher, which I find practical. If you run it during working hours, you can load it completely dry afterwards. Gimmick and you can do without it, but why not :D

With our new Siemens dishwasher, it also only opens a little. I find that very practical as it saves energy. Also one from AEG, which we recently bought for someone, does the same.

it should only open a crack. However, if the kitchen fitter installs the wrong hinges, it will slam to the floor and crush everything underneath :p

We also have a dishwasher with an "opening brake" (I didn’t even know there were ones that don’t open the door a little bit). The lock is located in a plastic strip that slides about 10 cm outward when the washing cycle is finished and the dishes are supposed to dry. To fully open it, you then press it upwards and can move the door down. (our door also doesn’t have any special covering that might be too heavy?) (this "one-piece opening mechanism" can’t simply be pulled out for a photo. It probably only reveals itself voluntarily after the work is done)
