It only digs into my wounds... I really wanted one, but my husband and our general contractor dismissed it as nonsense. Today it’s really the only thing I would still like to have. And my husband also took a liking to it in a log cabin – but oh well, too late. Now we’re going to make a fire pit outside in front of a window, at least I can look into the fire there *cry*

[DQUOTE="Climbee, post: 380541, member: 29528"]Just digging into my wounds... I really wanted one, my husband and our general contractor dismissed it as nonsense. Today, it's really the only thing I would still like to have. And my husband also took a liking to one in a log cabin – but well, too late. Now we'll make a fire pit outside by a window, at least I can look into the fire there *cry*[/DQUOTE] At least a compromise. What about an outdoor chimney? (dirt on the appearance)

An uncle "I wanted a tiled stove for baked apples" aunt "I wanted one for heating" Now it is decommissioned. We used it twice in 35 years. Open fire outside yes that makes my pyromaniac heart beat faster. In the house no - I don't like it. And that warmth no way

My parents had an old-fashioned masonry heater installed (there used to be an open fireplace there, which was stylish in the 70s - but unfortunately really useless. In front of the fire it was blazing hot, behind it cool, heating output was zero, it always had to be supervised and afterwards it smelled like smoke) and even today it is used to heat half the house. I love the radiant heat of the masonry heater and always wanted to have one. However, I had to admit that for us, who both leave the house early and come home relatively late, it wouldn't work. Because in winter, if it is to be used for regular heating, it has to be heated in the morning, then it has to burn down and only then can it be closed. If we come home too late in the evening, it is already cooled down and it takes a good hour before it warms up - by then we're on our way to bed, if things go badly. So that really was out of the question because it’s not practical for us. But a small show stove, low heating output but with a view of the fire, I would have liked that. You can also make baked apples in the stovepipe - I don't like them either way.

My parents used to heat 120 sqm of living space with the tiled stove. It was even quite comfortable. No, for working people that is nothing.

I can't get anything out of show stoves. However, I love my fire outside, with a pot of coffee in the fire.

Fire can be used both indoors and outdoors. For outdoors, we are now planning something like in the picture from the Lindlarer Grauwacke Manufaktur.
