I absolutely do not want to negatively affect your relationship with your landlord, it is only about the information that in a kitchen the tenant must be able to hang wall cabinets, otherwise the landlord must make improvements.

Do you only have 20 cm of legroom at the Bjursta? If there is more, then move the Besta forward accordingly. And then put a few books or something under the table legs so that the tabletop is 92 cm above the floor. Eating at that height won’t be very comfortable. Sitting side by side at the worktop reminds me of a fast food atmosphere. To get to the cabinet underneath, you always have to squat down. If anything, I would at least equip the lower half with drawers and only attach doors in the upper 40 cm.

: Thanks for the hint, I'll ask about it. But it only concerns one of four walls, so I don't know if that's contestable.

: At home I can't try out this height because I don't have bar stools – with regular chairs that would be nonsense. I definitely planned to check out bar tables beforehand to see how much legroom there is. The cabinet would have three drawers inside and only a shelf at the top. But you still have to squat down, even with other cabinets.

@Robi: Water pipe runs parallel to the wall, behind the sink, about 75 cm from the left and 60 cm above the floor.

One consideration now is maybe to leave some of the groceries in the hallway. Right next to the kitchen door, a 60x37 tall cabinet would fit. Hm.

What the housing association says is also coming this year is a renovation – but so far we have no information whether it only concerns the facade or if something will be done inside the apartments as well (e.g., pipes and heating... that would be cool). Therefore, we are not buying a kitchen yet.

A Berlin housing association has money for a renovation? How much the city has changed in recent years. In an energy renovation with a stupid heat network system, it would be illogical to keep the fan. If it happens this year, it should be possible to find out what will be done (at least at maximum). If you find a folding bar stool with a suitable height, the height of the worktop is of course no problem. I would rather give up a dining area in the kitchen than store food as food elsewhere, but it depends on individual habits. Why complicated internal drawers behind doors? Apart from the fact that you first have to open the doors every time, space below remains unused because no drawer can be installed there due to the hinges. Cabinets can also be hung on a drywall partition. How heavily it can be loaded depends on the construction of the wall.

Well, whether they really have the money will only be decided by mid-year. :D Therefore, the statements are of little use, except for what could all be done, but will only be decided after the financing plan and apartment inspection. We have already tried to get better information, without success. In any case, kitchen pipes and windows would potentially be included. The wall vent blows the air directly outside, if that were removed, it would be a shame! We actually wanted to find out there whether an electrician could connect the range hood directly (currently the vent is turned on via a switch on the wall).

Pull-outs behind doors have 3 reasons:
1) Since our kitchen is very small, we want to keep the fronts mostly "quiet". Also, we don’t want handles under the table that we could potentially step on and break.
2) We don’t want the regular drawer spacing, but three drawers with about 15 centimeters spacing (that would be the currently outsourced canned goods and cat food cabinet, so we know the required measurements) and a bottom shelf above/below each. So, counted from the bottom, low drawers in slots 3, 6, and 9, floor or another drawer in slot 12.
3) Financing is another reason, because "small fry" also causes trouble. The two 40-cabinets next to the fridge each get 3 wire baskets as internal pull-outs behind a large door. That simply costs only a third of drawer cabinets and is sufficient for our purposes.

BUT: it’s not over yet, and who knows what plans Herzensmensch might overturn when we stroll to Ikea next week. :D

Hi, two questions have come up again. :)

1. Is it possible to have a door over two carcasses? For example, a 100 high door over two cabinets standing on top of each other (60 40)? Or would the holes no longer fit in one of the two carcasses? (In the drawings, it looks like exactly 5 cm distance, hence the hope that it might work.)

2. We want a sink 80 wide with a waste bin drawer below. Can we use an 80x60 door for the lower drawer (handle height 60, above that a 20 panel) instead of the 40 20 drawers suggested by the planner? Or would that not work structurally and cause the door to break or something?
