In the meantime, I had surgery (nasal polyp operation) and we painted the wooden ceiling:


A lighter shade of white (yes, white here too!) and UV protection.

Here you can still see the difference compared to the beam that is not yet painted white:


The white effect depends a lot on the light incidence: the more light (sun), the whiter it looks.

It was a crappy job – I hate painting overhead!

That’s why the next batch of work is now waiting for us here: the panels for the upper floor – we can still comfortably paint them on the trestle and only then will they be installed. Thank God! I would not have felt like painting standing on a scaffold up to the ridge beam in the dormer!

Which product did you use to paint the wood?

When painting, don't use bright colors like before but very subtle ones. There are very beautiful shades from Alpina and Co. The human eye does not necessarily perceive white as pleasant. I can only encourage everyone to get advice, I used to always think everything had to be white.

Does it stay like that after one coat? You can see light and dark spots, or is that a reflection from a window?

The screed was delivered to us today. My sympathy goes to the employee who spent the whole day shoveling the huge pile of sand into the machine.
