Which product did you use to paint the wood?
First with Südwest UV-Stopp, then with Südwest wax glaze lime white. That was recommended to us.
Uneven impression: as I said, it very much depends on the incident light. And our ceiling is made of brushed spruce. There are areas where the wood is relatively smooth, others where the grain stands out more. If you now look at an area with a stronger grain next to a smoothly grained area at an angle with certain light incidence, the one with the grain looks whiter. If you look exactly at the ceiling at a 90° angle, you can see that it is even. But that is fine for us. Wood is simply not as even as a normal wall – you just have to live with that if you choose wood, otherwise take a smooth ceiling. Even if the spruce darkens without glaze, there will always be different areas. We chose this type of glaze because we wanted it somewhat lighter than natural wood but wanted to keep the structure and liveliness of the wood. And that works very well with the glaze. If you want it completely even, you should choose something else.
Then we have two rectangular spots where supports stood and the wood around unfortunately already darkened (my dear husband didn’t want to believe me when I wanted to do it as quickly as possible – the wood doesn’t darken that fast – well, nonsense!). That will even out over time (the UV-stop glaze for indoor use is unfortunately not quite as effective as the one for outdoor use – but it is approved for indoor spaces).
