Even though we finished a few days ago, yesterday we were able to take a cool snapshot, our house almost in the center.

You mean the downspouts?

Why? It looks nice!

How is the downpipe connected at the top? Is something missing there or am I just not seeing it?

It's a flat roof... I mean, you can see the transition to the wall very slightly in the picture.

Typically, there is a box (gutter box, water catch box) when connecting the downpipe from the flat roof (google image search "Fallrohr Flachdach"). I am missing that here and would appreciate technical clarification! (I know, this is a picture thread ... :rolleyes)

Quite simple... without a box.

The drainage is, as probably expected, in the roof, and the drainage runs from the facade out the back into the downpipe. The outward appearance is simply elongated. The top 20cm of the downpipe are essentially non-functional.
