Hi,

if this spot is really underground, that's...... suboptimal. What the electrician wanted to do at my place and is still pissed off today that I didn't buy it.

Breakthroughs either well above the later ground level or below -50 cm and then properly done with a Doymer seal or similar. Everything in between is rubbish and will cause you problems!

Regards,
Andreas

I don't think he was aware that our carport and garage are higher than the rest of the terrain

Yes, he is aware of that. He just has to look at the plans... if he hasn't done that, it's all the more stupid of him.

Have it corrected!

Regards,
Andreas

Wow, you’re really making good progress there. I’m happy to hear that! Tell me, how are the interior walls actually connected to the precast concrete exterior wall parts? MAS? Or are they just flush against them? Continued success and just as good progress with the construction! We have actually started now as well. The inspection shafts were installed and when uncovering the wastewater sewer connection, the earthworks crew unintentionally (but really cost-effectively for us) completely drained the entire construction pit. I didn’t find it so funny that the sewage treatment plant in the neighboring town got hit by a flood wave of about 50,000 liters... they were then quite excited standing in the construction area to see where it was coming from. But the earthworks contractor is actually not at fault, he just relied on the municipality’s sewer plans and the elevation levels indicated in them. That the wastewater sewer connection was actually lower than indicated was then simply unfortunate or rather good for us...

Hello 11ant,

No, it will not be a recessed gable roof. It has now become a completely normal gable roof with a 25-degree pitch.

Well, the vacation was planned long ago, when it was not yet clear when it would finally start. Since my parents live only about 500m from our construction site and are retirees, I’m not worried that there won’t be any pictures of the progress...

We already had enough sleepless nights during the planning phase. According to our architect, the shell construction should continue in the middle of the week. Since our architect fortunately also visits the construction site regularly, I’m not too worried about the approximately 3 "absent days".

Hello Bernd,
did you also commission your architect for construction supervision? If so, I would strongly assume that she is doing her job and checks the construction site daily. It currently sounds like that would be the goodwill of the architect.

Our architect has so far been stopping by once or twice daily. Although we have just completed the excavation and the inspection shafts, I have no doubt that he will handle things differently in the further construction phase.

Wishing you continued luck and success with the building and a nice vacation
