It already looks special, but honestly with the four sliding doors it's quite overkill, especially since the interior spaces are not separated.
This is closed at the top, right? How is it ventilated? Is the house air-conditioned?
It is open at the top. The house is partially air-conditioned but the plan is to leave the atrium open in summer, hence also the 4 lift-and-slide doors. In addition, the preferred walking path in summer is through the atrium, not around it.
Ideally, at least that's the plan, the open atrium acts like a chimney and pulls outside air in through the outer windows and out at the top again. So far this works very well with shock ventilation; we still have to find out how it is when it’s 30°C+ outside.
The roller shutter consists of two panels and via the home automation and sun position sensor it can be operated so that the sun does not shine directly through the glass.
Basically very cool, but I would have put more effort into the hole where the masonry tub with the tree stands, or put it straight.
We tilted it so that the tree is straight. Basalt stones will be added in and around the tub to make it look nicer; then you won’t see the crookedly cut floorboards anymore ;) I just couldn’t lift the tub with the stones out of the garage alone and was too lazy to walk back and forth a hundred times… that’s a job for the coming weekend.
The pot is deliberately a bit higher than the terrace so that you can get a rope sling around it to lift it out.
I have to reconsider my solution (only three sides; one side open) with 4.8m*4m and maybe go to 4.5m width.
They say everything looks small in the shell construction phase; with the atrium it was really the other way around. The more finished it became, the more I wished I had made it bigger. An L-shaped lounge sofa with 2.5m side length is supposed to go into the corner opposite the tree; I’m a bit worried that it might look too crowded then.
I’ll post a picture when everything is finished.
