Or simply in the panel directly below the cooktop, with downdraft extractors no drawer can fit there anyway, so at least the panel is still being used

I like this option best as well. Can the socket also be installed flush? If anyone has photos of this, please post ;)

If your kitchen builder flush-mounts the box for you, that certainly also works flush.

We have positioned it that way too, the boxes come from Bora. However, not flush, despite a handleless kitchen, they have never bothered me. I can take a photo tonight.

If it’s not like that with you... - we have moisture-resistant boxes installed.

that is just an additional rubber covering for the UP part. You can also do it in the kitchen, but it is completely unnecessary.
