The all-important question was: how bright or dark is it in the living room? Is it okay for you? How does it look so far?
Everything great. It looks bright and friendly. I will take pictures when I get the chance.
Exactly how do you want to do the impregnation?
I recently read that someone wanted to do it with water glass (I think that was ?) and you decided on a different method, right?
Right, we chose the Concretal product line from Keim. We cleaned with the concrete quick cleaner to possibly remove form oil residues. Shortly before moving in, a round of Silangrund will be applied and 4 hours later the fixative without adding glaze. According to expert advice, it is ultra matte, transparent, and thin, hence invisible. Exactly what we wanted.
And how do you protect it during the further construction phase?
We had it packed at the factory and the mixture was already prepared with hydrophobization. If you leave it "naked" now without protection, you might as well sand again right before moving in.
What did you sand with?
It was protected with wooden steps during the entire shell construction phase, for 3 weeks now only with self-adhesive, fairly thick stair fleece. I’m not going to leave it naked! Despite heavy craftsman traffic, it works wonderfully, not a single flaw anywhere. Both staircases are covered with warning signs and everyone treats them carefully like raw eggs.
I sanded with my completely normal angle grinder with 180 grit and then went over it briefly with 240 grit. The sandpaper consumption is quite high but it works perfectly. Smooth as the much-cited baby bottom.
Work has also started in the bathroom today. Tomorrow the flush-mounted window sills (with shadow gap) and the painters are coming. And the bathtub.
