The original idea was to inset a stone slab (material like the stove) INTO the parquet ON the podium, as we originally planned the fire opening to be flush with the podium floor. Now the opening is higher, so we were allowed to bring the parquet up to the stove and will now place a metal plate in front of it during winter. We were advised against a glass plate because it would become too heavy for "quick" removal.

The idea with two glass plates, as describes, would solve the weight problem, not a bad idea!

Of course it works. But it also looks kind of awful. Especially when you consider what a stove like that costs. The spark guard really messes up the appearance. I decided on a glass plate that is flush with the parquet. Now I hope the glazier can make me a single piece plate and doesn’t have to split it into 2 or even 3 elements. After all, the stupid glass plate costs 600,-
