If you only build once in your life and otherwise have nothing to do with such things, it's easy to overlook that there can be different solutions for a topic considered self-evident. In this case, it's not really bad except for the issue with the height.

I don't think I can engage more...... but as someone not very tech-savvy, it’s naturally more a matter of efficiency.

Alternatively, one could have used a side sectional door, without the rigmarole on the ceiling. Then you can easily achieve 2.50 meters of height for the door and you can walk under it with a hat or helmet on and use the storage space under the garage ceiling in case of limited space (e.g., for a roof rack with box, sled / skis, or other bulky items).

I only know them from personal observation from a few houses from the 60s - how would a drive work there? Manual opening is pretty much out nowadays ...

It looks like the rear gate aligns in height with the additional door, and the front driveway gate uses the full height of the wall. Could that be?
