The carpenter was here today and very hardworking, though a bit chaotic.

He forgot to order the 2 roof windows, we are leaving them out now because the kitchen is bright enough anyway.
A nice side effect, we save over €2,000 if you also consider the additional costs for sealing.

The flat roof builder will come next week at the latest and do his job; the greening might only happen next year, but that’s no problem.

I’m really happy :)

Where the beam is missing at the front, a swing will go there, later maybe a hanging chair or something.

Great! That is still our idea, although we are wavering again because of the glass. The advantage of this construction is precisely that it can be adjusted afterwards. If the daylight works out like that, it is optimal.

Looks awesome! By the way, the house, and the stone wall, and generally everything around it as well :D Are you planning to stain it or something similar, or will it stay natural?

Thank you, we still like it very much. We actually want to leave it untreated, but I'm a bit afraid that it will weather and deteriorate too quickly due to the rather exposed location. The carpenter said that wouldn't be a problem, it will just get darker. That, in turn, wouldn't be an issue for us. What do the experts say? Is painting necessary? From above, it will be protected in the future by a sealant including an [Attikablech].

it doesn't break, it only changes color. There is no must here. We are currently painting our wooden facade, later also the carport with a kind of graying glaze. Of course, there are many different opinions on this as well, but this is how we're doing it now. I always painted our former terrace roof with Sikkens, which was still perfect after 20 years. However, I don't know how it will be with the parts exposed to direct rain. It is probably a matter of taste, although you should decide quickly. If the wood partially changes color due to weathering, you will no longer be able to color it evenly with a glaze.
