We also have the two sockets and two more on the wall where the island connects. So far, that has been enough. I had considered installing sockets on the open side of the island, but it didn't work out, and so far I haven't missed them. I wouldn't want a socket on the countertop either if I could find another solution. In my old kitchen, that was a good solution because I didn’t have any other sockets there, or the ones directly behind the stove on the wall were covered with the splash guard (sockets directly behind a cooktop – I don’t know who comes up with such nonsense. Has he or she ever tried to clean splattered tomato sauce out of sockets???), so I think you can’t completely badmouth that. But if I can plan differently. Does the Bora Basic have no sockets on the control panel? I find those really practical! Because at the stove, I really mainly need a socket for the hand blender. And that really right by the stove.

My peninsula is too long for the side. Especially since I have an overhang of the countertop there to attach devices like a pasta machine, grandma’s meat grinder, etc. I don’t find the look at the front of the cooktop nice or practical. The peninsula is 1 m deep. On our side, there are sockets to the left and right of the cooktop. Accessible from everywhere and the shortest route for the cables. To flood them, you really have to throw soup far. Normal accidents are not a problem.

Not nice is a matter of taste, of course; I find them on the panel of the cooktop much nicer than on the countertop. The sockets are then only visible when you "stand in the kitchen," from the other side, meaning from the living area, you usually don't see them. (Provided the cooktop is on the island). I see the "covers" in the countertop from all sides. Our island is 1.2 m deep. And the cooktop is not on the edge. I can't think of a device with a cable that would be too short (the most common use case is usually for an immersion blender or similar). The appearance, as I said, is a matter of taste; beyond that, I haven't discovered any disadvantage, rather advantages. In any case, one should think in advance about in which cases sockets are needed and accordingly plan which ones to provide.

The one from looks like the Bora XPure to me. We have that too. Per se, it has no sockets anywhere but optionally in the blind front panel.

Sockets on the side panel of the island have the disadvantage that: 1. often the distance to the cooktop is too great 2. if you plug in a phone, radio, or similar here, you can catch the cable when walking by and pull the device off the island (this has already happened to me with a phone). This is clearly visible in the photo by

I also find it more visually appealing. Regarding water and splashes, no one should have sockets in the immediate vicinity of the sink in the bathroom. However, they are basically standard and often not more than 20 cm away.
