That will be fine, don't worry... it will be painted in exterior window color and will get a nice handrail (all in oak) along with steps. It was supposed to be a flat steel staircase at first, but as my architect said, that would be "pearls before swine."

The architect is pretty cool and has always been on our side. But he also never beat around the bush and was brutally honest. With architects who say “could it be a bit more” and “I’ll do what you want,” we would have totally crashed. Not everything you come up with yourself is good and right. The same goes for the construction coordinator.

The best line was when I wanted something… “Have you found a money suitcase recently that I don’t know about”…
