Nope, that’s not me. I didn’t even notice. :) Progress ^.^ The first picture earlier was from Tuesday, this one is from today. Unfortunately with a rain spot on the lens. But on the other hand, also with a rainbow. ;)

You still have my utmost respect, and even more since this week. I took this week off to work on the garden house. The kitchen will probably have to be temporarily stored there until the house is finished, plus I want to have something to store bikes, etc. in by the time we move in. The plan was very simple: 1.5-2 days for the foundation, 1 day to assemble, 1 day for the roof. Then to paint afterwards. Day 5 has passed, we have been at the construction site long hours every day, and half of the roof is still missing... but now I think we know how (almost) everything works. I had to deliberately walk through the house this evening, because a lot has really happened this week: rough installation of plumbing and electrical is done, roof is covered, and after 3 months without water I finally have a construction water connection again (but I will tell that story another time). Also, the scaffolding was taken down for the time being today.

Foundation for the garden shed? Our garden landscaper simply laid slabs on the designated area and we then assembled the Karibu Mylau 5 over one weekend. Ok, painting took two extra days...

I am sharing a picture of our garden pond. Built and laid out by myself :)

Yes, we also made a slab foundation. Layer of gravel, curbstones set in concrete, and in between paving slabs on gravel + grit. Unfortunately, the plot has quite a bend at that spot and also happens to have the highest point there. So you have to go down a bit so that you don’t end up too high later. I had never operated a mini excavator before either, so it wasn’t as efficient as planned. And a 1-ton excavator was not ideal in the dry, rock-hard clay either. On top of that, I blocked the space with the soil heaps. Rough leveling in line with the spirit level is easier in theory than in practice; we only got it right with the curbstones and level. It takes a while until they are truly level. And so it drags on throughout the whole operation... we felt like we made every rookie mistake.

And well, the whole house is rather elaborate for a garden shed. 2 windows, floor, tiled roof...

Spot the difference: find the mistake

What’s flat in the photo? That’s almost high mountains by Lower Saxony standards, isn’t it?
