As I understood it, the crux of the matter is that the floor is warmed again during the warm summer months. In some cases, this works so well that some have done without underfloor heating in the basement and the floor is still pleasantly warm. That was too risky for us; we will also have underfloor heating in the basement (except for [TK and storage space]).

The system will work somehow, but the efficiency will be very poor compared to other deep or surface collectors, as there is much less energy input (neither from rain nor from sunshine...); additionally, laid in sand... worst possible heat extraction performance... modern pipes are stable enough that they are not specifically laid in sand to improve heat extraction.

By the way, you don’t have to worry about deep-rooted plants; that is at most a marketing argument from the guy with the pipes under the base plate... You can plant whatever you want over a surface collector with PE-RC pipes, the pipes cannot be damaged by roots.

Area would not have been possible for us anyway due to lack of space, only deep drilling. We did not want that. Efficiency is supposed to be good... I will definitely ask again exactly how it works now.
