The water sprays forward when showering, of course, since the shower is open. This water therefore finds its way into the channel more easily than the other way around.

Yes, the slope goes towards the shower drain on both sides.

Don't think the idea is so dumb. That way you don't have to stand in the gutter all the time while showering.

The bathtub looks a bit awkward placed across the room. It is probably enclosed on all sides? And I hope the bathroom is large enough for this layout.
I have never seen a shower channel like that before, but if it works, why not.
