The crazy thing is that in the usual floor plans the main bathroom is always designed so that without a bathtub you waste an incredible amount of space. I would really like to have a good concept for how to accommodate a large shower in a half-story without it looking like a compromise.

Well, I have to say, the plexiglass is hardly visible at all, I dare say that those who don’t know it’s there will overlook it. Thus, the railing is just as safe/unsafe as a wall, because you can climb over that as well.

: The railing is painted black. It has several advantages: it can be easily touched up and it is cheaper. According to my metalworker, powder coating the railing would have been very complicated because it is so large. I like the look, even if a little paint chips off now and then, it then fits the fireplace all the better.

Powder coating also needs to be baked on. The required object temperature is difficult to achieve with massive metal parts.

Our bathroom is - when I see other floor plans - quite small at about 7 sqm. During the renovation, we moved the toilet to the opposite wall, removed the bathtub that was still there despite the shower, and used the space instead for a double sink and a 130 cm x 95 cm large shower. Ideal for us :)

The left picture is also not completely up to date. After that, the window handle was replaced (stainless steel) and the hanging roller blind was replaced by a pleated blind. The shower wall and the room thermostat (to the left of the window) are also missing in the picture. To the right of the window there is now a shelf. The WC wall was moved forward slightly for the flush tank, so there is a built-in cabinet for towels etc. to the right of the WC.

The shower looks like this (still without built-in cabinet and shower wall):
