The wardrobe was supposed to ensure a tidy appearance. With hooks, it would look neater - at least the chair would be free - but the jackets are still visible. However, I fear no improvement for the chair as long as there is an excess of jackets

in your current situation, but the drawbacks are by far the lesser visual evil ;)

Perhaps "more chairs" could help to accommodate the excess jackets?

I know the problem from home, a nice rocking chair in the room and there's always something lying on it.

I could also try house arrest first :D Although house arrest is certainly not the right pressure tool in times of Corona, when you can't (properly) get among people anyway ... There is no space for more chairs :(

the rod is too high for children. They won’t reach it. It’s too high for me too. I’m lazy as well: we have a rod that is "around" 150 high (a coat could still hang). -> That one shoe board has to go, if necessary a stylish shoe cabinet between the door and the chair. Have you just moved in? I wouldn’t put the chair in front of it either, it directly invites the clothes.

I know the problem. We specifically got a terribly expensive pull-out shelf for the washer-dryer tower (dryer on top of the washing machine) in the condominium so that laundry from the dryer can be placed there until everything is folded and put away. Guess what ends up on it? Laundry makes up the smallest part, and if anything, it’s from the wash before last. The sofa is always full of jackets, scarves, and who knows what else. And we have hooks and hangers. And since I have a family, I no longer want a kitchen island. I just don’t see the point. It’s certainly not a work surface.
