Not much has really happened for us in the new year yet. The basement ceiling is finally supposed to be installed on January 30th, which was actually supposed to happen before Christmas. At least the craftsmen started with the basement waterproofing last week and installed the cove as well as coated the exterior walls in black and sealed them with tar sheets.
The basement is made of WU concrete, but our architect said that only with a black coating it would also be vapor-tight and advised us to do so because we wanted living quality. Since we have pressing water from the slope, I also think it's a bit like the motto 'better with belt and suspenders.'
The basement is made of fair-faced concrete, but our architect said that only with a black coating it would also be vapor-tight and advised us to do so because we wanted living-quality conditions. Since we have pressing water from the slope, I also believe it's a bit like the motto 'better safe than sorry.'
Oh, so it's because of the pressing water. The basement is vapor-tight from 20 cm thickness even without coating. I was only surprised by the welded membranes because I had never seen those anywhere before. Black paint is seen more often.
