We have had 4 power outages in the 5 years we have lived here; one lasted about 5 hours, the rest were resolved within 10 minutes. The power supply of the residential areas is designed as a ring so that such things do not take long.

Nobody certainly wants to make fun of it. But a crucial disadvantage of manually operated roller shutters is that they are hardly integrable into a smart home concept. Intelligently controlled roller shutters and venetian blinds ensure especially in summer that the house does not get too warm.

Integrate smart home concept

Here in the forum, 20% of the houses have this, and across Germany maybe 5-10%, right? So if you've learned one thing, the forum is not a representative example for anything.

Electric roller shutters can also be "secured" so that they work even during a power outage. For example, via photovoltaic storage, UPS, emergency generator... For us, the question did not even arise as we would not have had any option for the strap. But I wanted electric ones anyway. Only this way can they be controlled, and beyond a certain number of shades, the comfort gain is immense.
