One reason why I could never imagine not being on the construction site during the building phase. For example, if you have a house built by a general contractor at the other end of the country without ever being on the construction site yourself.
Our crew is really worth their weight in gold, but there are always little things that we have to follow up on. I can understand that: first of all, as clients we are much more involved in our project than the workers who work on several sites and therefore have to keep track of the ideas of several clients, and on the other hand, everyone has their own ideas about what is good and right.
Our electrician, for example, is convinced that the bedside lamps should be installed OPTIMALLY ABOVE the bed; for us: the bed is placed under the sloping roof, lamps above the head position in the slope. We find it creepy that the person who maybe still wants to read then basically "illuminates" the other next to them who already wants to sleep. For that reason, we want the lamps NEXT TO the bed, above the bedside table. We had arranged it that way.
Let's get into the house: cables hanging over the bed *argl* - well, that was not a problem yet, cables simply rerouted and now the connection will be where we want it. But if you don’t check at all? Then you end up with, for example, a lighting on the bed like a halo - whether you want it or not...
And if incorrectly installed windows are not objected to already during the shell construction, it will probably stay that way and you have to live with it later.
Well, but I guess everyone has to deal with that at some point...
