ah, do you say that too when you read in your tabloid about a fall on a folding staircase in a stylish single-family house (of course only recognizable through a photo by the journalist through the window inside, while the child’s coffin is being carried away) because the parents simply found a railing unstylish and the child was allowed to climb, which unfortunately went wrong?

I never understood the staircases without railings. Firstly, children grew up fine in times when there were only railings, and secondly, it’s simply an unnecessary accident risk. Most accidents happen in the household. And honestly: The bedrooms are upstairs and how steady is one on their feet when completely drunk after some party? What if you want to show the upstairs rooms to elderly family members?

I was still lucky enough to be socialized with the form follows function principle. I’m open to discussion about the number of bars in the railing (4 or 5), but not about whether there should be a railing or handrail at all.

Image:
Our roof is halfway finished and the gutters are installed. We’re really happy with how it turned out. Unfortunately, you can see so little because of the scaffolding.

When I look at the weather forecast, it seems that absolutely nothing will happen in the next two weeks. I’m so annoyed by the winter. The bricks are all already neatly sorted and now nothing has happened for ages.

the whining comes afterwards when it has happened. I also find it irresponsible... I see the dilemma with some neighbors, the grandma prefers to go around the house because she is afraid of the stairs‍♂️Really great cinema

I did not mean the omission of the stair railings/handrail, but the protective grid/railing at the ascent and descent.

The fact that we do not have a handrail is due to our daughter's pull-ups individually. She walks more safely without it. However, she cannot fall sideways because of the wall.

I never meant that the railing on the side is unnecessary. Just ask before you call something unnecessary that was never meant that way.

Just fair. I had understood it differently - please accept my apologies for that. My mental image is shaped by the “stylish” stairs without handrails, without railings. Preferably made of metal or concrete, also elegant with steps that seem to float on the wall. This victory of fashion over function just doesn't get into my head.
