Just had a visit.
Yesterday evening we were surprised by a deer in the carport... :)
We live right in the middle of the city.

I searched for a long time for a suitable carpet for the ground floor area. I then decided on the golden cowhide there. Even my wife likes it :p

My wife saw it and when the deer saw her, it took off.

Deer are indeed cultural followers, and your carport may sufficiently resemble a shelter from the deer’s perspective, but shy game rarely wanders far out of good cover. The forester will probably not need to take action here, but I would consider it sensible to let him know.
