Dear friends of house construction,

the basement has grown a good deal again today. At the southwest corner, we have reached the target height of 2.5 meters.

Best regards

Axel

Why is there this narrow slot on the left?

Axel, it looks so small. Does it only look like that, or is it a partial basement?

Hello ypg,

Size is, as we all know, always relative. But to answer the question: The floor slab is exactly 85.71 m². Above it come two full floors of almost identical size. Additionally, the house will be extended on the south side by a single-story extension with a roof terrace and on the east side by an office extension. The extensions also explain the question to be answered in the next post.

Best regards

Axel

Hello lastdrop,

there are a total of three narrow slots - one each on the south, east, and west side. All slots have structural reasons. Here, formwork is installed and a reinforced concrete column is poured, which is supposed to give the walls more stability when backfilling with soil.
Why all this? I was explained it like this:
Normally, the excavation pit is backfilled once the entire house is standing. The structure is calculated so that the pressure from the walls/floors above gives the basement walls additional stability. However, my house is planned so that there are two extensions without basements on the south and east sides. To be able to pour the floor slabs for the extensions, the basement must therefore be backfilled before the floors above are built. Hence the reinforcing columns.

Best regards

Axel
