Why is there this narrow slot on the left?

there are a total of three narrow slots - one each on the south, east, and west side. All slots have structural reasons. Here, formwork is installed and a reinforced concrete column is poured, which is supposed to give the walls more stability when backfilling with soil.
Why all this? I was explained it like this:
Normally, the excavation pit is backfilled once the entire house is standing. The structure is calculated so that the pressure from the walls/floors above gives the basement walls additional stability. However, my house is planned so that there are two extensions without basements on the south and east sides. To be able to pour the floor slabs for the extensions, the basement must therefore be backfilled before the floors above are built. Hence the reinforcing columns.
