You can see once again that much is a matter of taste. I like weathered wood because you can see time and life in the wood. I would never have wanted to build a red brick house for that.
Such a wooden facade looks very stylish when new. In my opinion, wood loses its vitality when it turns gray and brittle. The warm tone is then missing.
With a park bench or a jetty at the lake/sea, I also find weathered wood great, it fits there. It also suits a log cabin in Alaska. On a regular house, I find it unattractive; I would only be busy painting...
