I rather think it has to do with the architect. He seems to be quite active on the internet. Perhaps he would be against having his work freely distributed here, where any GU/GÜ could transfer it into their standard program without payment...

That is exactly right. The architect a) designed the house (his idea) and b) paid a professional photographer to take pictures for himself and his client. The pictures are his property. The pictures of my daughter had/have a copyright.

Did you know that architects generally have intellectual property rights on their buildings for life? Theoretically, nothing may be changed on the house without their consent that affects the architecture and impact. I was confronted with this for the first time when someone wanted to place these thick stones as a barrier at a building. The architect intervened, arguing that the effect of the building would no longer be the same

That is, for now, just an assumption on your part. With what rights the pictures were created is pure speculation.

That's how it is. I lived as a student in the Olympiadorf in Munich (a part of it was designed as a student dormitory). The buildings have slowly deteriorated because the concrete had flaws. But any changes had to be approved by the architect.
Now, years ago, the original bungalows were replaced with new ones (because a renovation no longer made sense and the bungalows, which were still comfortable for us, were downsized, so that more could be built on the same area) - this also only happened with the architect's approval.

However, I believe this does not apply "for a lifetime" but exactly 70 years - as is the case, for example, with compositions.
