If you don't want to use wood for the stair treads of the basement stairs because of little stones etc., what affordable alternatives are there? Probably tiles, right? Stone then gets a bit more expensive. That's about it, isn't it?
What modern problems. In the living area, there was a wooden staircase, in the basement concrete. A door in front. Done.
Meanwhile, people want to live underground like moles, so a living basement below, the staircase has to look nice. Reduces the utility value, but looks good. Well.
Although I also have to say that storing garden tools, bicycles, lawn mowers in the basement doesn't really fit my own philosophy either. These things are stored quite inconveniently there.
Laundry that has to be carried between floors is nowadays a moderate scandal, but lugging the lawn mower out of the basement via an outside staircase is perfectly fine?
I would rather be worried about the often encountered white risers. Even in the living area they don't stay white long.
