The step is 29 cm deep and overhangs about 2.2 cm, although some of that will still be plastered over. No idea about the rough construction stairs, since they were formed on site and do not come from the factory.

Thanks! What do you have on top now? Tiles?

great! Many thanks!

I just noticed that you have some kind of thin "cover" as a riser. At first, I thought it was the plastered or painted stairs.

that is not a "thin" cover but a coated multiplex board. It is the same material as a kitchen countertop, so it can withstand the stresses. I can take another photo of the riser in the afternoon. In my opinion, the same applies here as with tools and stuff. Whoever buys cheap buys twice, and especially in the house, everything should be done properly.

It should not be a qualitative judgment

The cladding only meant that it covers the raw construction staircase and thus covers it up. And compared to an estimated 4cm tread, the riser is estimated to be <1cm thin, which is why I did not recognize it as such.
But it can also be deceptive in the picture.
So no offense intended

I actually like it the way it looks in your place!

I’m also currently thinking about what to do with our staircase. Wooden treads are basically set. (However, we will be laying tiles in the basement). And after walking on the raw construction staircase (prefabricated part from the concrete plant), I think 1-2cm more depth would do it good. But now it’s already like this and I’m therefore considering whether I could gain these 1-2cm with the overhang of the tread.

If you don't want to use wood for the basement stairs' treads because of small stones, etc., what affordable alternatives are left? Most likely tiles, right? Stone then becomes a bit more expensive. That's about it, isn't it?

What modern problems. In the living area, there was a wooden staircase, in the basement concrete. A door in front. Done.

Meanwhile, people want to live underground like moles, so a living basement below, the staircase has to look nice. Reduces the utility value, but looks good. Well.

Although I also have to say that storing garden tools, bicycles, lawn mowers in the basement doesn't really fit my own philosophy either. These things are stored quite inconveniently there.

Laundry that has to be carried between floors is nowadays a moderate scandal, but lugging the lawn mower out of the basement via an outside staircase is perfectly fine?

I would rather be worried about the often encountered white risers. Even in the living area they don't stay white long.
