It's not for nothing they say: "Opposites attract." ... ;)

Addendum: I now almost have the impression that the chosen, lighter tile might look more like laminate... I will know more when they are laid. Photos of the result will follow. :)

Thank you
I had actually already seen this tile in the tile store in front of me. Probably the price had put me off. I need to take another look at it.
But I find it really hard to imagine how the tile will look in my own home in the store and under those lighting conditions (I don’t think the lighting in the showroom is particularly natural).
Our neighbors, who are a bit further along, now also have a wood-effect tile. I wouldn’t have liked it in the store, too dark, too busy. It looks great in their house.

In our previous house, we always bought the tiles at the hardware store; they have great deals and nice tiles. You can tell from our selection that we didn’t want anything "special," just a wood look. For the new house, we were tied to the dealers of the house manufacturer or their subcontractors, the tiles were "subsidized." The price at the time we chose was about 42.00 euros per sqm and was maintained for us until today's or tomorrow's delivery. In the showroom, it has now risen from about 42.00 euros per sqm to about 62.00 euros per sqm. :-( But as I said, similar options can be found in hardware stores as well.

Do I understand correctly that you chose replacement tiles without ever having seen them in daylight? Only online/catalog image? Then good luck :D

I really wanted gray wood-look tiles.
Price-wise, we were lucky that I found the cheapest ones the best (ok, almost, 3 € more expensive than the cheapest). We are going with the San Remo Ash.

In case you haven’t looked at them yet, I like the Velden (Hornbach / Bodenhaus, maybe somewhere else too), San Remo (Hornbach), Silentwood (Bodenhaus), Venice (Bodenhaus).
I believe all these tiles are under 35 € / sqm (two months ago).

I ordered / picked up samples of all the tiles and laid them out at our place. That only helps me semi, but at least I could choose them well in comparison to each other.

Marazzi tiles are very beautiful, they have VERY many different wood-look tile series. I think almost 30 different series in various colors. I didn’t order any of the Marazzi because I didn’t like the gray tones. But they have very nice brown tiles. I think the price is somewhat higher.
