Consider yourself hugged. By the way, I think your house is really great too :)

Unfortunately, you can only give one "thumbs up" for the comment!

I know that moment all too well! But rest assured: Someday you’ll be sitting on your terrace looking out at that MEGA forest behind your wonderful little house and be proud of what you have created yourself! Eventually, the misery will end, believe me :D
By the way, when I see the pictures of that forest, I could spontaneously tear off both my arms and legs!! It just looks amazing! And the house already gives a very cozy impression – even now! :)

I have to say, I'm not a fan of city villas either.

Thank you so much, I often try to think of that too. Like how beautiful it will be when we’re done with the worst part.

The plot was actually the first one we looked at. An absolute stroke of luck. And then we were able to buy the forest plot behind our building plot for very little money.

I’m currently lying on the swing (which we bought so I can be on the construction site with my broken foot) and looking into the forest (and at our drying insulation mats).

Now it’s time to continue with the drywall.

I’ll keep spamming here. The likes put me in a good mood and with all the work, I really need that right now :)

Somehow I can’t insert the pictures into the post at the moment??

Our Easter celebration was busy, but together we managed quite a bit. Next week we’ll even have some help. I’m really looking forward to that. Tomorrow I will brush the house from the outside and if necessary, sand it a bit so that the first impregnation can go on this weekend. There simply wasn’t time before and the house has already darkened.

But here are our progress updates.

In the first pictures above you can see the partition wall between one of the bedrooms and the bathroom. That’s open to the first ridge, so a whopping 3.27 m. And 2.4? wide. On Friday we clad it with one layer of drywall, filled the joints and then added a second layer halfway / a bit more than one third double-clad. With the remaining filler we filled in a bit at the bottom.

On Saturday we sawed like crazy. 14 of the 32-degree studs on top and 8 studs at the bottom that we still inserted into the walls (ok, 7 at the bottom, one just pretends to be installed).

In the second picture you see the bathroom wall at the top, which we first clad with a single layer. We want to clad the roof first so that we don’t miscalculate now and the roof drywall panels no longer fit. Also, we still have to decide whether the second layer will be boarded with wood or not.

At the bottom you see the kitchen wall, 2.40 high and I think 2.60 wide. Double-clad, first layer filled.

What you don’t see are the discussions, my tears of being overwhelmed, our constant moving back and forth of the insulation mats. Unpacking the insulation mats outside and laying them out to dry. The tidying up and searching for stuff in the chaos. Measuring ten times or the fact that we can’t remember any measurement longer than 3 seconds and the entire stud work of the house is one big notepad.
What you also don’t see is how we dance, laugh and have fun to 90s music through the rooms.

Ah. Doing it yourself really is something.

Finally someone who understands something about symmetry...
I can’t look at those completely wildly built houses that seemingly come without any optical planning effort at all...

Everything nicely symmetrical – square, practical, and good, in my opinion :)

You can say what you want about city villas --> they just look ultra stylish! Yes... Certainly something many other builders also choose, but in my opinion better than a totally wildly built unique piece where nothing fits together :D – I unfortunately see way too many of those in current building areas, because people want to stand out from the crowd, which definitely isn’t easy.

I think many builders nowadays want to be very special with what they create... Everyone is free to do as they please. However, you have built yourself a very, very nice little house here! I really like the way it looks.
