I would always choose clear glass and only have it professionally tinted if needed.

"Always" not, but I would also prefer this approach. If you are already sure how you want it, I also find the sandblasting of the glass itself good. With film you can still "experiment," and yet it is durable enough if it is meant to stay that way permanently.

Alex85 is right: It’s not much more than a large, bright spot. But that’s intentional for us; from the front door to the street is only about 7 meters, so we simply didn’t want clear glass. There is already enough light there, the front door faces northwest and the hallway, stairs, and living room (all open) will certainly get enough light from the southeast, everything is painted snow white anyway. I’ll post pictures next year when everything is finished. What worries me much more is the view from the living room, that will get totally worse compared to now, no matter how nice the garden becomes...

Worse is clear, other changes are hardly possible from the optimum point of view. But why totally?
