The rooms tend to be 10x6x3m(5m), and the system is supposed to be kitchen radio, dining room radio, and home theater system all in one. The logic of 4 corners, 4 speakers, and a center, without a subwoofer, calibrated to the room, is not wrong at first. Your example car is also not a concert hall, but a given space for driving and music comes on top of that.

absolutely! And the argument that a house per se is not suitable for good sound would lead to the conclusion that it’s better not to set up anything at all. I did consider the placement from the start and designed the living/TV area accordingly, the architect always shook her head in disbelief, but would never think of subordinating everything to it. It is still a house to live in.

I came to cars because of Hampshire's mentioned systems in many OEM amplifiers or radios, which are measured or corrected much more complexly, and yet the best-sounding car I know "only" got EQ with FIR.

Putting speakers in the corner would acoustically not necessarily be the ultimate solution... but certainly suitable for background noise in the kitchen and dining room, while the center is often massively overrated at the same time. x6x3 would also be so-so :rolleyes:

My intention was simply that small acoustic measures often bring much more improvement instead of replacing the x-hundred € speakers with ones costing x-thousand € and then trying to fix them afterward. Just enjoy it if you like it, but without proper acoustics, it doesn't matter how expensive the speakers were, there is massive room for improvement.
