The wood-aluminum windows are from Unilux, the plastic-aluminum ones from Weru. So far, there is nothing to complain about. The door is quite heavy, which would of course be very different with plastic at this size. But with such a large element, we didn’t want to look at the thick "plastic frames" on the inside. I would do it the same way again. The long-term test will then show whether we still think the same in a few years...

With us and all our acquaintances, the front door is made of wood.....so neither aluminum nor plastic

The front door is completely aluminum. I would never do plastic again either. Like with the plastic windows: after some time they just look shabby - despite good care.

I consider that to be wrong. It does not have to be that way. Both the windows and doors of our [REH] made of plastic were white and intact when sold in 2016. The house was from the mid-90s.

To be honest, I don’t understand the window issue.

It’s purely about money.
Of course, wood aluminum is the ultimate.
For me, the pure surcharge compared to plastic was 20,000 euros. I have many and large windows. In the end, the surcharge was simply not worth it to me.

I now have very good plastic windows, not the simplest ones, with some extras (better burglary protection, etc.).

For doors with "profile" also in the figurative sense, in my opinion, this is also the first choice (except for the cubist style).

I don't need wood-surface inner sides, and they don't fit all styles at all. "Aluminum on both sides" is completely sufficient for me - by the way, unproblematic to have different colors inside/outside without foil.

But that firstly doesn't fit the fuss you make about clinker; and secondly, I see saving on windows at resale as a kind of anti-homestaging.
