I think this staircase looks totally awesome!! However, I would never be able to walk there comfortably like that. Anyone can twist their ankle - and then there is no handrail to hold on to. I find that almost careless - even without children. But everyone has to decide for themselves, as I said visually 1A, but is that enough?

Manufacturer of the windows/doors is Aluplast, specifically the Ideal 8000 series.

The ceiling height is consistently 2.50 m. It appears a bit higher due to the wide-angle lens.
But it's completely sufficient for our room sizes. What also makes a big difference are the higher interior doors (2.20 m) and that the exterior window/door lintels are only 8 cm high. For this reason, the roller shutter/blind boxes were pushed up into the concrete ceiling.

You have to consider here that we only have half staircases.
I understand if someone doesn’t want to do without a handrail; for us, however, we don’t miss it at all. The only one who misses it is my wife’s grandma, who is 90 years old, but she is almost never here and we didn’t build it for her.
Regarding children, I won’t comment here in the forum anyway...

Toddlers cannot reach the usual handrails anyway and they then lean against the wall.

Or they do pull-ups. That’s why we won’t install a handrail here for the time being.

So the handrail topic is about the only thing I really find sensible. In the chemical industry, the use of handrails is standard. The goal is zero accidents; commuting accidents play a big role in this, and stairs are involved. I would not do without the handrail. ... But, each to their own!
