We are inside!
Yesterday at 9 our hardworking helpers came, by 1 we had carried everything over - after all, we lived in an apartment about 50m next to the house.
Although the weather didn’t cooperate at first, everything went well in the end. The parents' basement is now mostly empty, while our "basement room" is already full.
Much is still not finished:
- In the main bathroom the shower still needs to be tiled, the bathtub faucet is still missing because it has to be replaced due to a material defect.
- The entrance has no flooring yet.
- The stairs still need to be covered, after that the painter will take care of the risers.
- The guest toilet still lacks the washbasin.
- The guest bathroom is not finished at all yet, wall/floor tiles, plaster, painting, sanitary fixtures are all missing.
- The glass window sills are still missing.
- The doorbell couldn’t be installed because I bought the wrong flush-mounted frame. That made me really angry. So now the old one has to be torn out, the new one put in. Then it has to be plastered and painted again.
- The ventilation system is yet to be put into operation, and the hydraulic balancing of the underfloor heating still needs to be done.
- The kitchen is still missing the glass backsplash because the kitchen installer thought he had discovered a crack in the stone slab. But that was a mistake, now the backsplash will be installed on Tuesday when the installers for the walk-in closet are here.
- And much more.
There is still a lot to do, for which I now also have the upcoming week off.
But I am optimistic that I can work through much of my list by Thursday before I go on a ski weekend with friends.
Although much is still unfinished, it already feels really great to be in our own house and apart from the still missing shower, everything really necessary has been completed. For showering, we’ll simply go back to our old apartment for the next few days.
Today I first set up my office, now we still have to place some orders (bathroom accessories like toilet paper holders, etc.), then I’ll unpack a bit and enjoy the 2nd Advent. Later in the evening we’re going for a mulled wine at the Christmas market.
Happy 2nd Advent to everyone!
