Here are two progress pictures of our construction again. Unfortunately, it has come to a bit of a standstill because not enough Poroton bricks were delivered, but instead a lot of sand-lime bricks for the upper floor. This has caused about 2-3 weeks of delay plus what we already had due to the frost. Well, nothing can be done about it.

What I am still curious about is the following. We can already see the window openings. However, you still cannot see the different parapet heights here. I thought that this might have been executed incorrectly and asked about it. The site manager says this is normal; the intended parapet heights will only become visible later. I wonder why such window openings are currently visible then. For example, the kitchen window facing forward will have a parapet height of 1.25m. But the window frame currently starts well below one meter.

I hope they will continue with the ground floor this week, even though it is not yet 100% finished.

It's actually normal. They then cut the stones to fit the individual parapet heights. This is common practice because you don't have to think while building the wall. All windows are built up to the smallest height and then a cut row of stones is laid on top. I see this very often on construction sites and, as mentioned, it has the advantage for the shell builders that they can just work through without worrying. They still have to come back before installing the windows because the splays and the bearing must be plastered/sealed so that the windows can be properly installed.

Isn't there a rule that the stones must be laid/glued with an overlap of 1/3 of their length? Because the way you describe it, that one row of stones has no support at all.

: Well, you can exaggerate everything ... There is even a system where instead of cut stones, a Styrodur board with a slope is laid underneath. It serves for load transfer and the prevention of thermal bridges. Nothing needs to be interlocked there.

It also depends on how the windows are installed. If they hang in front of the wall (e.g., brick construction), on brackets, then a torque is transferred to the parapet, and the inserted bricks immediately come off. If the windows are mounted in the reveal, I agree with you.

Yesterday we had the topping-out ceremony, today the roof tiles arrived and will hopefully be laid starting tomorrow. Tomorrow the windows and door are also supposed to arrive, then on Monday the plumber for the pipes
