Now let the robber get his house sealed first, then we'll peek over the gardener's shoulder

The houses are usually the first blooming plant

Since the garden often comes last in a new building project, there is often the risk that other items have already consumed part or all of the budget.

On the other hand, I also find it unrealistic to have the entire outdoor area immediately after the house is completed looking like something out of a garden landscaping magazine. For many, it might be possible to spend several tens of thousands of euros more and lay turf, but that won't happen for us.

Once all the bills are paid, we will see how well the plans have worked out. Then investment will surely be made in paving, and everything around it will be developed little by little over the next few years - as a DIY project without a garden architect.

Especially roll turf is, imo, a bad example. Assuming suitable weather, after a month or two you can't see the difference to self-sown anymore…

Yes, with weeds! If you sow a lawn during dandelion bloom time, you have the pests in the soil forever. Roll-out turf doesn’t offer as much opportunity for attack. Whether the price is justified... everyone has to decide for themselves.

From my point of view, turf brings clear advantages compared to seeded lawn.... above all, the density that turf has is phenomenal. My lawn has been in place for 3 years and there is not a bit of weeds in it.
