We have more cars than licensed drivers. So counting is out of the question.

The other way around would be better. Because then it can never be assumed that someone is there, since there is always a car gone but someone is moving in the house.

A suitable neighborhood is probably more decisive in such cases than a garage or carport.

An alarm system is cheaper than a third car (you don't have to tell your wife ) ...and the price of a carport + alarm system < double garage.



So the dummy car would have to drive out and in on its own from time to time...phew it's getting complicated...it's about time autonomous driving becomes everyday life...because of burglary protection for carport owners and stuff

Okay, I agree with you there. But our neighbors, for example, always roll ALL the shutters all the way down .... exactly LIKE THAT we always know they are away. Even if the cars are in the garage .. so the issue is not solely about the parking of the cars.

I would prefer Type 3 -> Has a conscience and would rather leave it alone.
