The windows are really small! Like in the Middle Ages. How do you secure the 1st floor?

Last week and this week were very stressful for us because it was time for self-performance.
That meant for us:
- Partially digging trenches for house connections (gas, sewage, electricity for sewage)
- Sealing bathrooms and laying tiles
- Painting the utility room and house in areas where you won’t be able to reach later (boiler, radiators, etc.)

We managed everything even though these tasks were quite unfamiliar to me as an office chair acrobat.

I myself couldn’t operate the excavator for long because I’m too rough and then I felt sick.
Instead, I tiled, and here you can already see our bathtub even though it doesn’t really look good in the half-finished bathroom and the tiles are still dirty from grouting.

Yesterday and today all the utility providers were here and everything worked out with the house connections. The guys also nicely leveled the front yard. Now no one has to be afraid of falling into a deep hole when heading to the porta potty.

Yeah, the exterior facade is also finished and the excavated soil is completely spread, but since the ugly scaffolding is still up in the back, I haven’t taken a photo of that yet.

It looks like the final sprint with you!!

Yes, the windows on the ground floor are room-sized, on the upper floor we then adopted the window lines from the ground floor.

Yes, the window cleaner is also happy because some windows on the upper floor are fixed-glazed. We were aware of that from the beginning because we wanted the frame proportion of the windows to be as narrow as possible. Only our window maker adapted the fixed glazing to the openable windows with the frames. Now the fixed-glazed windows are just as thick as the openable ones ....... our construction fail

The area in front of the windows on the ground floor will still be filled. On the upper floor we partly have fixed glazing and on the openable sashes tilt locks. (Ba-WÜ, single-family house)

It has started for us as well by now
In the next few days, the formwork will be done and the basement is slowly taking shape...

Just got a quick update from the living room and I'm so glad that we hired a painter for the spackling and sanding instead of doing it ourselves

You’re starting quite late in the year though. How far are you planning to get by Christmas/winter break?
