Interesting, I have never seen the gable being built in the direction of the roof before.
For us, that was a crappy job measuring, male or female, marking, cutting, carrying stones up and tightly fitting them against the beams.
The procedure you have there is definitely much more comfortable for the masons
PS: What does the last picture show?
And exactly for that reason, the masonry or casting is done first, and then the roof comes.

As I said, I have never seen here that the gable is built first and then the roof. But it’s not the first time that things are a bit different up here than down there with you.

The supports in the ground floor are gone. The photo is slightly distorted due to the panorama mode.
Please do not discuss the puddle, the roof is not yet watertight

Regarding the procedure you described, I rather think: those were transplanted craftsmen who had beforehand educated themselves with East Frisian joke books about what is customary regionally
